3. Resist the temptation to spin excessively. Extra spins can lead to more wear and tear.

4. Air dry your piece of clothing  whenever possible. If tumble drying, avoid heavyweight companions like winter coats and blankets.

5. Iron your piece of clothing inside out and start with a lower heat setting. Designs and irons aren't always the most optimal fit.
